Located west of South America. The Pacific Ocean borders its coastline and borders Ecuador and Colombia to the north, Brazil to the east, and Bolivia and Chile to the southeast. The coastline of Peru has an extension of 3,079.50 km. In the Peruvian sea, three well differentiated regions are geographically distinguished: the central region, the south region and the north region.

The sea adjacent to the coasts of Peru has unique characteristics that determine the existence of an important biomass of zooplankton and phytoplankton, more than 600 species of fish and a great variety and quantity of marine mammals, mollusks and crustaceans, among the most important genera of marine fauna.
